A Transformation in a Week

July 6, 2016

This transformation had to take place in a week when my client called me with a week deadline before Christmas, just before guests arrived to use the rooms photographed. The concept in the lounge was a bit tired and dated and the client felt she wanted a fresh and lighter feel to the room. The gorgeous tiled floor adjacent to the lounge area clashed with the newly purchased sofa and colour scheme next door, so some quick thinking was in order. I applied some “special affects” which amount to small and light changes which impact the whole. We chose ready made cushions off a showroom floor and I selected a stone paint which complimented them and we had both rooms quickly painted. A woollen carpet was installed over the tiles – using glue to fix it in place so there would be no damage done to the tiles beneath. I had a rug made for the lounge using the same carpet. Ready made linen curtains were added and the pelmets replaced with half round wooden rods to add a bit of contemporary style to match the rest of the house. Finally, I reorganised the furniture, hung paintings from other rooms and just neatened up the surrounds and the result…. voila, a transformation in a week!

After:

Fresh cushions, a coat of paint to match, a new contemporary carpet and striped curtains and it just looks immediately lighter and brighter.
